Matt Y. Chou

Matt is a Principal at Equilibre Capital.

 

Matt brings a background in investment banking and structured finance, and experience on both the buy side and sell side of over $10 billion of institutional private equity and corporate transactions. He has worked across a range of sectors, including large infrastructure, regulated utilities, and conventional and renewable energy.  

Prior to joining Equilibre Capital, Matt spent the past 8 years working in renewable energy, helping to advise and structure solar investments on behalf of utilities, Fortune 500 companies, and private equity firms. Most recently, he has played an integral role at kWh Analytics to develop and commercialize renewable-specific credit products. He launched into renewables in 2010 through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Guaranty Program where he led valuation and due diligence teams and supported in credit agreement negotiations. Prior to this, Matt worked at Macquarie Capital from 2007-2009 as an Analyst and Associate in Investment Banking.

Among the transactions in which Matt has participated were the $7.4 billion public-to-private acquisition of Puget Sound Energy (NYSE: PSD); the $1.0 billion loan financing of Agua Caliente, a 290 MW solar project; the $340 million loan financing of One Nevada Line, a 235-mile transmission line; the $400 million corporate loan financing for Abound Solar; and the $100 million tax equity investment in a 60 MW of solar portfolio.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Science, both from University of Pennsylvania through its Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology.
